Educational Approach

Stannard School is dedicated to providing an engaging and supportive learning environment that helps students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. The school takes a flexible approach to education, ensuring that each student can access learning in a way that suits their needs. Lessons are designed to be interactive and stimulating, encouraging students to participate actively in their education while building confidence in their abilities. Staff work closely with students to identify their strengths and areas where they may need additional support, helping to create a positive and enriching school experience.

In addition to academic learning, Stannard School places a strong emphasis on developing essential life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience. A variety of teaching strategies are used to ensure lessons are accessible and engaging for all students, including hands-on learning, creative projects, and the use of technology. Small class sizes, with groups of four to six students, allow teachers to provide focused support and adapt lessons to different learning styles. By fostering an environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged, the school helps them build self-esteem and a love for learning that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Stannard School is broad, balanced, and designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications they need for future success. Younger students follow a structured program based on the National Curriculum, ensuring they receive a strong foundation in core subjects such as English, mathematics, and science. As students progress through the school, they are given the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects, including humanities, the arts, computing, and vocational studies, helping them to discover their interests and talents.

For older students, the school offers a variety of qualifications to suit different learning styles and future aspirations. These include GCSEs, Functional Skills, ASDAN, Entry Level qualifications, and AQA awards. Enterprise-driven programs such as Entry Level Employability Skills and Towards Independence provide valuable opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and prepare for life beyond school. A strong focus on careers education and guidance ensures that students receive the support they need to make informed decisions about their future, whether they choose further education, training, or employment. The school is committed to helping every student reach their potential by providing a curriculum that is both challenging and supportive.
