Educational Approach
Barraclough Hall School is committed to providing high-quality, aspirational education through bespoke learning opportunities. The school adopts a holistic approach, offering individualised care and a comprehensive range of support that evolves with each student’s needs. Classes consist of small groups of 4 to 6 students, each led by a class teacher or tutor and supported by at least one teaching assistant. This structure ensures personalised attention and fosters a supportive learning environment.
Facilities and Environment
The school is situated in a fully refurbished setting designed to balance tranquillity and functionality, catering to the diverse needs of its pupils. The campus features a peaceful woodland area and a courtyard sensory space, enriching outdoor learning experiences and providing engaging environments for exploration and play. Indoor facilities include well-resourced classrooms for structured learning, multipurpose rooms for creative and therapeutic activities, and communal areas that foster a sense of community and belonging.
Curriculum
For younger pupils, the school offers a curriculum based on the National Curriculum, ensuring a broad and balanced educational experience tailored to individual academic abilities. Older students have access to a diverse curriculum leading to external accreditations, which may include GCSEs, Functional Skills, ASDAN, Entry Level, and AQA awards. The school places a strong emphasis on future aspirations, providing robust career guidance and focusing on next steps for each student.
Therapeutic Support
The on-site team is equipped and trained to support children using a communication and trauma-informed therapeutic model. This approach ensures that the emotional and psychological needs of students are met, promoting overall well-being and facilitating effective learning.
